Preparing for Hurricane Season

Are you ready for hurricane season? Like many others in the coastal bend we are preparing for the 2020 Hurricane Season that is coming up. We are educating and preparing our staff and patients daily to keep them safe!

Yesterday we attended the Rockport Fulton Chamber Hurricane Preparedness Breakfast. It was very informative! At the breakfast, we received so much information and we can’t wait to share! We had amazing guest speakers, Melissa Huffman, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, Garry Barney, District Coordinator Texas Division of Emergency Management, Corpus Christi Office and Rick McLester, Emergency Management Coordinator for Aransas County that gave us many insights for the 2020 season.

The shared with us local impacts and what we to be doing now to prepare. One point that was said across the board was the be getting an emergency plan and emergency box/bag ready! The 2020 Hurricane season started June 1st and Cornerstone Home Health was ready. We hosted a hurricane breakfast meeting for all of our staff. In this meeting we spoke about the DOs and DONTs and how the hurricane could affect our company. We supply each nurse with a preparedness folder and a plan. We had an emergency box with supplied so that we can continue working even if the lights go out, literally!!

After the Chamber’s breakfast they handed out great information checklists on what to prepare. We encourage to prepare now instead of later! We have attached a printable checklist for a disaster supply kit! Another great tool is 2-1-1 and we encourage the community to sign up!
